| Description: | Adveture through rural countryside that features interesting rock outcroppings and great wildlife viewing. Surfacing varies along the trail from hard packed earth, loose gravel to sandy areas.
Cautions: The Rail Trail can be very challenging at various sections and is only suitable for bikes with wide tires ie. Mountain Bikes. Be cautious when crossing over bridge because there are gaps between the wodden planks. We recommend cyclists dismount and walk their bikes across the bridge(s). There is limited signage along the trail.
Directions: Parking and trailhead kiosks are located at each end of the trail. In Haliburton, access via County Rd. 1 (where the Rail Trail crosses the main road - just metres from the lights at the intersection of Hwy 21 and County Rd. 1). In Kinmount, access via Austin Park. This trail is a featured ‘Adopt-a-Metre’ trail. You can help construction and maintenance efforts by adopting a metre of the Haliburton county Rail Trail today - 80 cents of every $1 is spent on the ground.
