The Gull River and Wild Water Preserve is the only site for White Water Paddling in the Highlands. The river is dam controlled and located just outside the town of Minden.

The river's white water section is 800 m long and ranges from Class II to IV. The top section of the Gull is for skilled paddlers only.

The middle section is a popular starting point for open boats and intermediate paddlers, and while this section is relatively easier than the top section, the consequences of a swim are not pleasant. A solid roll is pretty much a requirement.

The lower lake and washout area is appropriate for beginners.
